Kromek, the County Durham-based radiation detection specialists, will be exhibiting for the first time at DPRTE, the UK’s leading defence procurement supply chain event, held at Farnborough’s International Exhibition Centre on 5th May 2022. (STAND NUMBER 116B)
Kromek, known for its suite of portable radiation detection devices, will demonstrate a range of its trusted and established detectors, the D3S, which is currently in use with the UK government, will be showcased along with our D5 RIID, the smallest, lightest and most sensitive radioisotope detector on the market today. It also has the longest battery life and greatest connectivity of currently available handheld RIIDs.
Accompanying the portable radiation detectors, Kromek’s Static Node, a standalone static detector which can be positioned to continuously monitor an area for a long duration and feed back radiation alerts into the network, will be on display. This detector is ideally suited for detecting the illicit movement of radioactive material across borders or large area dose rate monitoring either in urban or rural settings
Kromek will also be demonstrating its revolutionary Bio Sequencer, a threat detection system which allows early identification of all airborne viruses, including COVID-19. The system uses genome sequencing to identify existing and novel pathogens faster than has previously been possible.
“Radiological hazards are a growing challenge,’ said Eve Paylor, Kromek’s Product Manager. “We are pleased to be showcasing our range of detectors at DPRTE this year. With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, our biological detector is equally important and relevant.”
Kromek specialists will be on hand to demonstrate the different detectors and the bio-sequencer. They will discuss how Kromek can assist the different branches of the Ministry of Defence and the particular CBRN challenges facing the MoD and its supply chain, throughout the exhibition.
